Zhongdiwang has compiled methods to prevent dead mushrooms in button mushroom cultivation, listed below for readers' reference.

  Method 1: Apply sufficient compost:
The growth and development of button mushrooms, like all living things, requires a sufficient nutritional base. To achieve high yields and avoid mushroom bud death caused by nutritional deficiency, when preparing the compost, the application rate should be 30-35 kg/sq m, and the composting and secondary fermentation of the compost should be done carefully. This helps overcome dead mushrooms caused by insufficient nutrition in the late fruiting stage, thereby achieving high yields.

  Method 2: Select high-quality spawn:
Select spawn with robust and vigorous mycelial growth. The spawn medium must have sufficient nutrients, and the culture room should be clean, hygienic, and well ventilated. During the spawn culture process, temperature changes should be checked frequently so that the mycelium grows at the appropriate temperature, and contaminated spawn should be eliminated promptly.

Method 3: Choose the appropriate time for cultivation:
Generally, materials are prepared and composted in August, and spawning is done in September.

  Method 4: Manage water scientifically:
Water management should be adapted to the weather and the amount of fruiting mushrooms, adjusting to conditions. Spray more on sunny days, less on cloudy and rainy days; spray frequently when there are many mushrooms, and cautiously when there are few. The water for knotting (pinhead formation) should be generous, the water for fruiting should be steady, the water for flush transition should be heavy, and the maintenance water should be regular. Practice scientific watering and avoid spraying "closed-door water" (spraying with ventilation closed).

Method 5: Ensure ventilation and air exchange in the mushroom house:
Normal growth and development of mushrooms requires absorbing oxygen and expelling carbon dioxide. High concentrations of carbon dioxide are harmful to fruiting body development. If the mushroom shed has poor ventilation for a long time, carbon dioxide concentration becomes too high and oxygen is insufficient, which adversely affects mushroom growth and development. Therefore, attention should be paid to ventilation and air exchange during cultivation.

Method 6: Timely prevention and control of diseases and pests:
Thoroughly eliminate sources of disease and pests to prevent them from being brought into the mushroom bed with the compost; use secondary fermentation to kill diseases and pests in the compost; after diseases and pests occur, promptly remove diseased and dead mushrooms, and use chemicals for control to prevent spread and expansion.
