The key to cultivating spice crops lies in the skillful use of herbicides
What are herbicides? How many categories are there? Chemical pesticides used to control various weeds in fields are called herbicides. Herbicides can be classified by mode of action, translocation within the plant, method of use, and chemical structure system. (1) Classification by chemical structure system: they can be divided into inorganic herbicides, mineral oil herbicides, ...
As spice crops, the planting area of onions and bulb onions continues to expand. In the production of onions and bulb onions, improper selection of herbicides often causes reduced yield or total crop failure for the season, and can also leave residual toxicity in subsequent crops. In the pollution-free production of onions and bulb onions, the skillful use of herbicides is crucial. When raising onion seedlings, 65-75 grams of 50% prometryn wettable powder can be used per mu, sprayed with 40-60 kg of water. When raising bulb onion seedlings, 100 ml of 33% pendimethalin (Herbicide Tong) emulsifiable concentrate can be used per mu, or 150 ml of 48% butralin (Dilane) emulsifiable concentrate per mu.
For onions, after land preparation and before transplanting, 66-72 ml of 24% oxyfluorfen (Goal) can be used per mu, sprayed with 50-60 kg of water. For bulb onions, after land preparation and before transplanting, 100-150 ml of 48% trifluralin emulsifiable concentrate per mu, or 200 ml of 48% butralin (Dilane) emulsifiable concentrate per mu, can be sprayed with 50-60 kg of water.
For onions, at the 3-4 leaf stage after planting, 66-72 ml of 24% Goal can be used per mu, sprayed with 50-60 kg of water. After transplanting bulb onions, 100-150 ml of 33% Herbicide Tong emulsifiable concentrate can be used per mu. Or 100 grams of 50% linuron wettable powder per mu, sprayed with 50-60 kg of water.
To improve the effectiveness of herbicide application on onions and bulb onions, note that during seedling raising it should be applied after sowing and before emergence. After transplanting, it should be applied after the seedlings are planted and before weeds emerge. For onions, Goal is prohibited during the 2-leaf stage, and should be used with caution before the 3-leaf stage. When temperatures are low, apply around noon on sunny days; when temperatures are high, apply in the morning or afternoon. Prometryn should not be used on sandy soil.
