After the vines begin to run, insert triangular trellises promptly, and the vines can be tied around the trellis. While tying the vines, promptly remove side branches and tendrils. After the winter melon sets firmly, promptly pinch off the growing tip to promote rapid fruit expansion. Promptly remove the first fruit and select and keep the second or third fruit with a proper shape; after the fruit sets firmly, in the afternoon on a sunny day lower the vines and secure the fruit under the triangular trellis.
