Which chemical fertilizers should not be applied to vegetables? Beware of harming vegetable growth

Which chemical fertilizers should be prevented from harming vegetables and are unsuitable for application to vegetables

Vegetable fertilization

Ammonium nitrate and other nitrate nitrogen fertilizers are generally not suitable for application to vegetables. After nitrate nitrogen fertilizers are applied to vegetable fields, they can multiply the nitrate content in vegetables. Nitrate is easily reduced to nitrite in the human body, and nitrite is a highly toxic substance that is extremely harmful to human health.

Chlorine-containing fertilizers such as ammonium chloride and potassium chloride are not suitable for application to tomatoes and potatoes. After chlorine-containing fertilizers decompose in the soil, ammonium or potassium ions will be adsorbed by the soil or absorbed by vegetables. When the concentration reaches a certain level, it will poison the vegetable root system, and in severe cases cause vegetable death.

Leafy vegetables should not be sprayed with nitrogen fertilizer on the leaves. When nitrogen fertilizer is sprayed on vegetable leaves, its ammonium ions easily convert into acid radical ions after contact with air and are absorbed by the leaves. In addition, leafy vegetables have a short growth period, so nitrate easily accumulates in the leaves. Therefore, do not spray nitrogen fertilizer on the leaves of leafy vegetables.

Applying micronutrient fertilizers to vegetables can promote high quality and high yield, but vegetables require very small amounts of trace elements. Excessive application of micronutrient fertilizers not only causes waste, but also easily poisons crops and pollutes the environment. The dosage of ferrous sulfate must not exceed 3.25 kg per mu. The dosage of manganese sulfate and manganese chloride must not exceed 2.05 kg per mu per month. The dosage of copper sulfate must not exceed 2 kg per mu. The dosage of borax and boric acid must not exceed 1.25 kg per mu.
