Orchard termites are highly secretive and cause great damage; master these six methods for control

Orchard pest control
When it comes to orchard termites, many fruit growers find them a headache. They occur in both new and old orchards, and are especially severe in newly reclaimed orchards in mountain forest land. Termites are different from black ants: black ants are active on the ground and on tree trunks, and build nests in trees, while termites are active underground and build nests underground. If you do not observe carefully, they are hard to find on the ground; you have to push aside the soil at the base of the fruit tree with your hands to find them. It is understood that the fruit tree harmed relatively seriously is the longan. In seedlings damaged by termites, in mild cases the leaves turn yellow and growth is weak; in severe cases the branches and leaves dry up, and even the entire plant dies. The control methods are:
1. Biological control: mainly raising chickens in the orchard. Chickens are very sensitive to termites and love to eat them. Using chickens to peck and eat the termites serves two purposes at once.
2. Medicinal mud root-soaking method: when planting fruit tree seedlings, use 75% phoxim 300-400 times dilution added to soil to make a medicinal mud slurry, soak the roots for 3-5ml and then plant.
3. Medicinal fertilizer root application method: when planting fruit tree seedlings, use 3% carbofuran granules per square meter. Mix 2-3 kg with 1500kg of farmyard manure, apply about 5-10kg per plant as base fertilizer, and note that carbofuran should be used with caution when the tree is fruiting.
4. Medicinal solution root drenching method: use 1kg of 90% trichlorfon crystals added to 500kg of water, drench 2.5kg per plant, or dilute camphor wood oil to 600-800 times and pour 250ml at the affected site.
5. Poison bait trapping method: use 25-30g of termite control agent per mu plus 15 tons of fried fragrant rice bran, then add an appropriate amount of rice porridge water, mix well, apply 100-150g per plant, placing it in spots in the soil around the root zone.
6. Cassava stem trapping method: set 10-20 points in the orchard, pile 3lg of cassava stems at each point, cover with sugarcane leaves or rice straw, moisten with water, then seal and fix with mud slurry into a honeycomb shape. Check after half a month; if termites are found, let chickens peck and eat them or sprinkle on kerosene and burn them.
