Fruit-type cucumbers are highly profitable: cultivation techniques for spring-crop fruit-type cucumbers

Fruit-type cucumbers have relatively short, small fruit with no spines, are easy to wash, taste crisp and tender, have good flavor and high nutrition, and are very popular with good returns. Now the editor will introduce the cultivation method for spring-crop fruit-type cucumbers.

    1. Choose good varieties. For fresh-eating fruit-type cucumbers, varieties such as Tiancui Lv No. 6, Chunguang No. 2 and Deltastar are suitable, with a seeding rate of 50-70 grams per mu.

    2. Suitable growing environment. It likes warmth and cannot tolerate cold; the most suitable growing temperatures are 25°C-30°C during the day and 15°C-18°C at night. It likes moisture and fears waterlogging, and requires relatively high air humidity and soil humidity. It is suitable for deep, loose and fertile soil, needs plenty of fertilizer, and is best fertilized with a combination of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and various trace elements. It needs strong light and is suitable for cultivation in protected areas.

    3. Cultivation season. For spring-crop cultivation, seedlings are generally raised in January-February, transplanted in February-March, and harvested from March to July.

    4. Cultivate strong seedlings.Soak the seeds in warm water at 55°C, use peat as the substrate, and raise seedlings in nutrient pots. After the cucumber seeds begin to germinate, place them in a low-temperature freezing environment of -2°C-2°C for 24-48 hours, then raise the temperature to 25°C-30°C and maintain strong light. The seedling age is 25-35 days; when the seedlings have 3 leaves and 1 heart leaf, they reach the standard for strong cucumber seedlings: plump cotyledons, dark green leaves, well-developed roots, and no pests or diseases.

    5. Land preparation and fertilization.Apply 3000 kg of decomposed organic fertilizer per mu, plow to a depth of 25 cm, and mix the soil and organic fertilizer thoroughly and evenly. Make beds 1.8-1.9 m wide and 20-30 cm high, and lay plastic film.

    6. Transplant at the right time. When the ground temperature stabilizes above 15°C, the cucumber seedlings can be transplanted, with a row spacing of 90-100 cm, 2 rows per bed, a plant spacing of 35-40 cm, and 1700-2000 cucumber seedlings retained per mu. Choose a sunny day for transplanting.

    7. Field management.① Watering. After the seedlings recover, control watering for 5-7 days, then water frequently in small amounts and keep the soil moist at all times. ② Topdressing. After harvesting cucumbers, apply active organic fertilizer once every 10-15 days into the transplanting holes, 100 kg per mu, and spray foliar fertilizer potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution 3-4 times. ③ Plant adjustment. Start retaining cucumbers from the sixth node; remove the cucumbers at nodes 1-5 early, do not set up trellises, and use strings to hang and fix the cucumber plants. In the middle section, 1-2 cucumbers can be retained per node; after a branch sets 1 cucumber, pinch off the growing tip. When the cucumber plants grow to the height of the arched shed, remove the lower old leaves and coil the vines downward to lower the plants. ④ Regulate temperature. Strengthen ventilation and air exchange, maintain 25°C-30°C during the day and 15°C-18°C at night, with a ground temperature of 21°C. ⑤ Timely disease control. For fruit-type cucumbers, use broad-spectrum fungicides, such as 43% Score for controlling powdery mildew and anthracnose by spraying; 50% Acrobat for controlling downy mildew and blight by spraying; and Yunda 120 plus 53.8% Kocide 2000 or agricultural streptomycin plus 72% Best for controlling bacterial angular leaf spot by spraying.

    8. Harvest in time. When the cucumber is 13-18 cm long, reaches a diameter of 2-3 cm, and the flower has begun to fade, the fruit-type cucumber can be harvested. Cut off the cucumber stalk with a knife and handle it gently.
