Can isoproturon and acetochlor be mixed for use? Please explain.

Both acetochlor and isoproturon are suitable for soil-closing treatment in wheat fields and barley fields after sowing and before seedling emergence or around the 3-leaf stage. Both also have some control effect on weeds at the seedling stage, and isoproturon also has a relatively good control effect on older weeds. The two can be mixed for use. At present in China, there are registered mixed formulations of isoproturon and acetochlor for weed control in wheat fields. After mixing, the weed-killing spectrum is broadened, and the respective application rates are relatively lower, which helps reduce crop injury. The weed control effect mainly depends on soil moisture, weed age and weed spectrum. It is best to apply the product before weed seeds have germinated or at the early germination stage. Suitable soil moisture at the time of application helps improve the control effect. When the soil is dry, the weed control effect is poorer, and when the soil is too wet, wheat seedlings are prone to acetochlor injury.
