Peach Trees Have Many Causes of Iron Deficiency How to Prevent and Treat Iron Deficiency in Peach Trees

Every year in May and June, peach trees develop yellow leaves and drop their leaves, and some new leaves turn white as soon as they emerge. This is mostly caused by iron deficiency in peach trees. Iron deficiency in peach trees, also known as yellow leaf disease, chlorosis, etc., if not prevented and treated in time, will lead to low peach yields, and the peach trees will also die.

Causes of iron deficiency: soil pH, dryness and moisture levels, fertilizer application habits, etc. Fruit growers should understand the causes of iron deficiency in peach trees and treat the root cause.

Cause one: soil compaction, insufficient oxygen at the roots. Most peach trees with yellow leaves are lacking intercultivation, the soil is not loose and has poor aeration, and the roots are severely short of oxygen, which prevents the peach tree root system from normally absorbing oxygen and leads to iron deficiency.

Cause two: too little water, dry soil. When there has been no soaking rain for a long time, surface water evaporates and salts concentrate in the surface layer of the soil, and the peach tree's absorption of iron is inhibited.

Cause three: excessively high salinity and alkalinity. Alkaline soil is prone to iron deficiency.

Cause four: improper fertilization. Too much ammonium bicarbonate and phosphate fertilizer, and excessive nitrogen and phosphorus, will also affect the peach tree's absorption of iron.

    Prevention and treatment measures:

Improve the soil. For topdressing peach trees, apply 2 kg of no-till fertilizer per mu, and water thoroughly after application. During regular topdressing, appropriately increase the application of organic fertilizer or no-till fertilizer, so that the soil organic matter content increases, the soil's physical and chemical properties are changed, and the fixed iron is released.

Irrigate to reduce alkalinity.Give the peach trees a general irrigation to settle the salts and alkalis floating in the surface layer of the soil and adjust the pH.

Artificial iron supplementation. For each fully bearing peach tree, use 40 g of chelated iron + 50 g of Lanjian (trace elements), mix with 20-30 kg of water, and apply by irrigation at the drip line at the edge of the peach tree canopy, with remarkable results; you can also use a 0.3-0.4% ferrous sulfate solution or a 0.1-0.2% chelated iron solution + 4000-fold solution of Shuofeng 481 for foliar spraying, spraying once every 5-7 days, for 2-3 consecutive sprays.
