Which pests can isofenphos-methyl control? How should it be used? Please give guidance
Isofenphos-methyl is an organophosphorus insecticide. The technical product is a brownish-yellow oily liquid. It has strong contact and stomach poison action against pests, with a relatively long residual effect. It is highly toxic to humans and livestock. The formulations are 40% emulsifiable concentrate and 3% granules.
The use techniques are as follows:
(1) Control of underground pests:
① At the early hatching stage of white grub larvae, use 200 mL of 40% emulsifiable concentrate per mu, dilute with 5-100 kg of water, and spray near the root zone with a sprayer; this gives good control of white grubs in soybean fields and also controls crickets.
② Use 200 mL of 40% emulsifiable concentrate or 1-1.5 kg of 3% granules per mu, mix with 20-25 kg of fine sandy soil, and broadcast around the crop roots in the early stage of pest occurrence; this can control white grubs in soybean and peanut fields.
③ Mix 40% emulsifiable concentrate at 0.2% of the seed weight to treat wheat and soybean seeds before sowing; this has a good seedling protection effect.
④ After Chinese chives enter dormancy and before growth begins, spray along the rows; use 0.5 kg of 40% emulsifiable concentrate per mu, diluted with 500 kg of water, to control chive maggots.
⑤ Use 0.5 kg of 40% emulsifiable concentrate per mu, applied by drip irrigation together with watering, to control onion maggots.
⑥ Use 5-8 kg of 3% granules per mu, broadcast in the furrows at sowing time, to control nematodes in peanut, soybean and sweet potato.
(2) Control of aboveground pests:
① Use 0.5 kg of 40% emulsifiable concentrate per mu, diluted with 150 kg of water, and spray it on the soil surface within the tree basin before the overwintering larvae of the peach fruit moth emerge from the soil; spray once more half a month later to control the peach fruit moth.
② Spray with a 2000-fold dilution of 40% emulsifiable concentrate to control aphids, armyworms and others.
(3) Precautions for use:
First, isofenphos-methyl is highly toxic and may only be used for seed dressing or soil treatment; it must not be used for foliar spraying on fruit trees.
Second, grazing or cutting grass to feed livestock is strictly prohibited in treated areas to avoid poisoning.
Third, when using it, strictly observe the safe use regulations.
