Summer is the rapid fruit-swelling stage of Ya pears; how to do a good job of summer management for Ya pears

Summer is the season of vigorous growth for Ya pear trees. This period is both the rapid fruit-swelling stage and the flower bud formation stage. Doing a good job of management during this period is crucial, as it affects both the abundant harvest of pears this year and the quantity and quality of pear blossoms next year. Focus on 3 things:

Ya pear

    I. Fertilizer and water management

On the basis of autumn and winter fertilization, apply a fruit tree compound fertilizer with balanced nitrogen, low phosphorus and high potassium once before flower bud differentiation from late May to mid-June, and water promptly after fertilization. The amount of fertilizer applied should be determined according to tree age, tree vigor and fruit load, using the benchmark that every 100 kg of fruit produced requires 0.5 kg of pure nitrogen, 0.25 kg of pure phosphorus and 0.5 kg of pure potassium over the whole year, so as to determine the optimal fertilizer rate. In combination with pesticide spraying, spray the leaves with 1% urea solution, 0.3% amino acid compound fertilizer liquid and 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution to supplement tree nutrition and enhance leaf photosynthetic capacity. In summer, when the rainy season begins and rainfall increases, irrigate appropriately according to soil moisture conditions; watering should be done in small amounts and finely, and strictly avoid flood irrigation. After heavy rain, drain accumulated water from the orchard promptly, and strictly prevent rain soaking from causing root rot.

     II. Pest and disease control

     1. Ya pear scab: Check regularly in normal times, promptly detect and thoroughly remove diseased leaves and diseased branches to eliminate the source of infection, and carry out pesticide control at the appropriate time according to the severity of the disease; 40% DuPont Fuxing 10000-fold liquid or 10% difenoconazole 3000-fold liquid can be used. 2. Ring rot: Hanbang 50% carbendazim 2000-fold liquid or 68.75% DuPont Yibao 1200-1500-fold liquid can be used. 3. Yellow mealworm: 10% imidacloprid 1500-fold liquid or 20% acetamiprid 3000-fold liquid + 4.5% beta-cypermethrin 1500-fold liquid can be used. 4. Pear psylla: 2.0% abamectin 3000-fold liquid + 4.5% beta-cypermethrin 1500-fold liquid can be used. 5. Comstock mealybug: 40% chlorpyrifos 1500-2000-fold liquid + Zhusha 1000-fold liquid, or 205 Comstock mealybug net 2000-fold liquid can be used. 6. Fruit borers: diflubenzuron No. 3 1000-1500-fold liquid + 4.5% beta-cypermethrin 1000-1500-fold, or 1% emamectin benzoate 1800-fold liquid can be used.

     III. Summer pruning

Summer pruning is a supplement to winter pruning. Doing summer pruning well helps control excessive tree vigor, promote flower formation and improve ventilation and light conditions. For Ya pear trees with normal fruiting, strictly control dense branches and vigorous shoots on the scaffold branches, comprehensively use methods such as pinching, bending shoots, thinning branches and pulling branches to regulate the vigor and angle of the scaffold branches, and promptly prune out upright branches, crossing branches and diseased or pest-infested branches.
