Stem rot easily causes peanut seed rot. How to control peanut stem rot

Stem rot is also called seedling collapse disease and wilt disease. It can occur at all stages from peanut emergence to maturity, harming the peanut cotyledons, roots and stems, with the root crown and stem base suffering the most severe damage. In heavily infected plots, peanut kernels can be infected by stem rot after germination and before emergence, causing seed rot. The stem rot pathogen invades from the cotyledons or young roots; the affected peanut cotyledons become blackish-brown and dry-rotted, and the disease spreads along the petioles into the peanut roots, producing irregular brown water-soaked lesions. The lesions expand and surround the stem base, causing the peanut stem base to become blackish-brown and rotted. The above-ground peanut leaves turn yellow, the leaves droop, and the entire peanut plant withers and dies.

    Control methods

   (1) Select sterile peanut seeds or seeds with a low pathogen carriage rate.

   (2) Seed treatment: Sun-drying the seeds: before sowing peanuts, choose fine weather, sun-dry the peanut seeds for 1-2 days, then shell them. Seed dressing: use 500 g of "Haizhuangyuan" seedling microbial agent or 1 kg of "Haizhuangyuan" microbial fertilizer for seed dressing, or 30 g of "Aoluojia" seaweed extract. First wet the peanut seeds, then evenly sprinkle in the microbial agent or microbial fertilizer, and stir gently so that all peanut seeds are evenly coated, then let them dry slightly.

   (3) Use microbial agents and microbial fertilizers: for each mu of peanuts, use 20-40 kg of "Haizhuangyuan" seaweed microbial fertilizer or 10-20 kg of "Haizhuangyuan" continuous cropping agent. At sowing, apply it concentrated as a seed-covering fertilizer to help prevent disease, promote roots and protect seedlings, and ensure the healthy growth of peanut seedlings.

   (4) Spraying for control during the growing period: at the peanut seedling stage or the middle and late growth stages, spray "Haizhuangyuan 818" Wuweishi at 800 times dilution to prevent disease occurrence, once every 7-10 days. When scattered disease occurs in the field, it can be mixed with 40% carbendazim suspension concentrate at 500 times dilution and sprayed on the base of the peanut plants.
