How can weed control in corn fields be effective?
How do you control weeds when growing corn? Please provide guidance. Spring-sown corn fields are mainly infested with perennial weeds, winter-annual weeds and early-spring weeds, such as field bindweed, field bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis), Ixeris denticulata, shepherd's purse, Hemisteptia lyrata, lamb's quarters, etc. The weed community composition generally consists of one or two weed species forming the dominant population; the dominant weeds are barnyardgrass, crabgrass, foxtail...

How do you control weeds when growing corn? Please provide guidance
Spring-sown corn fields are mainly infested with perennial weeds, winter-annual weeds and early-spring weeds, such as field bindweed, field bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis), Ixeris denticulata, shepherd's purse, Hemisteptia lyrata, lamb's quarters, etc. The weed community composition generally consists of one or two weed species forming the dominant population; the dominant weeds are barnyardgrass, crabgrass, foxtail, purslane, etc. Corn fields are greatly affected by weed damage at the seedling stage; in the middle and late stages, corn forms a tall, dense canopy, the occurrence and growth of weeds are suppressed, and the damage loss is not great. Therefore, chemical weed control in corn fields should focus on two key periods for application: after sowing before emergence and early post-emergence.
1. Soil treatment after sowing before emergence. The key factors affecting the efficacy of soil treatment are soil moisture and seedbed preparation quality. To ensure efficacy, low-moisture irrigation should be applied and the soil should be finely prepared. If the moisture condition is poor, after application the soil can be shallowly incorporated or sprinkler irrigation can be carried out to improve efficacy. Atrazine, simazine, and mixtures with Harness, Lasso, Dual, trifluralin, etc., can effectively control a variety of weeds. Generally, use 200-300 ml of 40% atrazine per mu, 200-300 g of 50% simazine, 150-200 ml of 40% atrazine + 150-200 ml of 48% Lasso (80-100 ml of 90% Harness), diluted with 25-30 kg of water per mu and sprayed evenly.
2. Foliar treatment. At the 3-5 leaf stage of corn, the 1.5-2.5 leaf stage of monocotyledonous weeds, and the 2-4 leaf stage of dicotyledonous weeds, use 150-250 ml of 40% atrazine per mu, or 150-200 ml of 40% atrazine + 100 ml of 72% Dual (150 ml of 33% trifluralin), diluted with 25-30 kg of water and sprayed evenly. To control post-emergence broadleaf weeds, at the 4-6 leaf stage of corn use 50-70 ml of 72% 2,4-D butyl ester per mu, or 1 g of 75% broadleaf herbicide, diluted with 25-30 kg of water and sprayed evenly. Specialized corn field herbicides can also be used according to the instructions.
