How effective is paraquat? How should paraquat be used for good results? Please readers, help introduceZhongdi Network has compiled the characteristics and usage methods of the herbicide paraquat, listed below for readers' reference.
Characteristics of paraquat:
1. Kills anything green on contact - weeds and crops alike are wiped out.
2. Kills weeds very quickly; leaves begin to discolour and turn yellow 2 to 3 hours after the chemical lands on them, and within 3 to 4 days the green parts can be destroyed, with the whole plant drying up and dying.
3. Herbicidal efficacy is related to the weather. On sunny days the effect comes on fast, and weeds begin to wither 24 hours after application; on cloudy days the effect comes on slowly, but the weed-killing result is more thorough.
4. It has no systemic translocation effect; the chemical absorbed by the leaves cannot be translocated to the roots and underground stems, so for perennial weeds it can only kill the above-ground green parts and has no killing effect on the underground parts.
5. The chemical breaks down rapidly after falling on the soil, so crops can be planted a very short time after application.
6. Because it does not kill the underground roots and stems of perennial weeds, it is used on non-cultivated land in hilly and mountainous areas, as well as for pre-sowing weed control in crops.
Usage methods of paraquat:
Method 1: Weed control in orchards, forests, tea gardens, mulberry gardens and yards. When weeds are below 15 cm tall, use 150 to 250 ml of 20% aqueous solution per mu, and spray diluted with water. The amount of water should be enough to wet all the weeds. Paraquat has a killing effect on green bark, so directed spraying should be carried out between plants and rows.
Method 2: Weed control on field ridges, roads and channels. When weeds are below 15 cm, spray them thoroughly with a 200-fold dilution of 20% aqueous solution. When spraying on field ridges, prevent the spray droplets from harming the crop seedlings in the field.
Method 3: Weed control in reduced-tillage or no-tillage fields. After the previous crop is harvested and before the next crop is sown or planted, use 100 to 150 ml of 20% aqueous solution per mu, and spray diluted with water onto the weed stems and leaves.
