Harm of scale insects to peach trees:
Scale insects, also called white peach scale, are a pest that commonly and severely occurs on peach trees. They mainly use female adults and nymphs to attach themselves to the trunk and branches, piercing the bark with their mouthparts to suck sap. When the infestation is severe, the entire tree's branches are covered with scale shells, the bark of affected branches peels off easily, tree vigor is weakened, and the whole plant may even die.
Control methods for scale insects on peach trees:
Method 1: To control scale insects on peach trees during the growing season, apply 1 degree Baume lime sulfur mixture to the trunk by brushing or dry-brushing twice during the adult stage, which can effectively control the hatching of their eggs.
Method 2: When pink nymphs first appear on the branches and trunk with scale shells, spray the branches and trunk twice with 1 degree Baume lime sulfur mixture, or spray 2 to 3 times with 30 times diluted coal oil emulsion, or alternately spray with 200 times diluted 30% strong scale-killing wettable granule formulation and 1000 times diluted 40% Duxiben emulsifiable concentrate, spraying 3 to 4 times continuously, with an interval of about 7 days between two applications. If the branches and trunk can be smeared with gauze before spraying, the effect is even better.
