The spots are oval, brown, with mold-like growth, how to control banana cigar-end rot

The spots of banana cigar-end rot mostly appear on the leaf margins, mostly short oval, brown, with obvious concentric rings on the spot surface, and dark mold-like growth on the underside of the banana leaf, spread by wind and rain. The control methods for banana cigar-end rot are as follows:

Banana cigar-end rot

    1. Strengthen cultivation management, fertilize reasonably, take care not to apply excessive nitrogen fertilizer alone, but increase potassium fertilizer; drain and irrigate reasonably, promptly drain standing water from the banana plantation, so that the banana trees grow robustly, thereby improving the disease resistance of the banana trees.

    2. Promptly cut off diseased and withered leaves on the banana trees, cut down weeds in the banana plantation, clear diseased and residual leaves in the plantation and burn them in a centralized manner, so as to improve ventilation and light penetration in the plantation and reduce opportunities for pathogen spread.

    3. Spray for control. This disease is mainly controlled by chemical means; begin spraying at the early stage of disease occurrence, spraying once every 10-15 days, for 2-3 consecutive times. Effective agents include: 25% Tilt emulsifiable concentrate at 1000-1500 times dilution, 50% carbendazim wettable powder at 800 times dilution, or 0.1%-0.5% fenarimol emulsifiable concentrate, etc. In order to increase the adhesion of the spray liquid to the leaves and banana fruits and improve the control effect, 0.1%-0.2% laundry detergent or 0.4% flour or cassava flour should be added to the spray liquid; when spraying, spray both the upper and lower surfaces of the leaves.
