Cabbage root rot causes the stem base to turn brown and the root system to rot - how to prevent and control it

Cabbage root rot
I. Main symptoms. The disease occurs during the cabbage seedling stage or shortly after transplanting. The epidermis of the stem base turns brown and rots, followed by rotting of the root system, and affected plants are easily pulled out.
II. Conditions for disease development. The pathogen overwinters as mycelium in cabbage seeds and soil. The disease mostly occurs in cabbage cultivated under early spring plastic film mulching or in small arched sheds and plastic greenhouses. It is a low-temperature, high-humidity disease, and the pathogen can spread with irrigation water.
III. Control methods:
1. Seed treatment: Select excellent varieties, soak the seeds in 800-fold Weikang Antai solution for 4 hours for disinfection, remove them, rinse twice with clean water, drain, then promote germination and sow; or disinfect with 1% salt water.
2. Seedbed soil treatment: Disinfect the bed soil with 1000-fold carbendazim solution, or mix the soil with 1000-fold Weikang Antai solution. To control underground pests, matrine powder can be used at 1:1000. The seedbed should be level to make future watering uniform, with a thickness of about 10 cm; using organic bioactive fertilizer as seedling fertilizer can improve cabbage resistance to root rot.
3. Sowing and raising seedlings: Broadcast the germinated seeds on the seedbed and then cover with soil, generally about 1 cm of soil, and sandy loam soil is suitable for covering. After covering with soil, put on plastic shed cloth to raise the temperature and help emergence. Never flood irrigate, to prevent high humidity and low temperature from causing various seedbed diseases.
4. Seedbed management: After the seedlings emerge, sprinkle water at the right time to prevent water shortage, and never flood irrigate. When 30% of the seedlings have emerged, spray the seedbed and seedlings 2-3 times with 500-fold Weikang Antai solution to prevent damping-off, seedling blight, and root rot, at intervals of 7-10 days. After the seedlings have all emerged and emerged evenly, spray 1-2 times with 1300-fold Weisheng D solution, at intervals of 10-15 days, which can promote healthy seedling growth and prevent disease invasion. After the seedlings grow larger, transplant them in time, plant by plant, at a spacing of 2 cun. After transplanting, sprinkle water rather than flood irrigating with large amounts of water. Before transplanting, ventilate and harden the seedlings in time to let them age. One day before transplanting, irrigate once with a large amount of water, soaking thoroughly.
5. Planting management: At planting, spray the seedbed and seedlings once with 300-fold Weikang Antai solution or 500-fold 50% Genfuling solution or other fungicides, to prevent the seedlings from carrying pathogens into the greenhouse. At planting, chives and cabbage can be planted in alternating rows, which can reduce cabbage root rot, because chives produce a strong, peculiar odor that can repel insects and kill bacteria.
