What are the effects of spraying paclobutrazol? What effect does spraying paclobutrazol have on fruit trees? What are the functions and effects of paclobutrazol? Below, Zhongdiwang gives a brief introduction for netizens' reference.

Paclobutrazol is a new type of plant growth regulator. In trials on varieties such as pear trees and peach trees, it achieved obvious dwarfing and yield-increasing effects, and it has now been applied to tree species such as apple, grape, hawthorn and citrus.
1. Spraying paclobutrazol on fruit trees can reduce the extension growth of extension shoots, shorten internode length, promote the development of lateral branches and short fruit branches, reduce the number of leaves while increasing leaf thickness. Paclobutrazol also affects root growth, manifesting as inhibiting main root growth, increasing the thickness of absorbing roots, and increasing the proportion of lateral roots and absorbing roots in the total root number.
2. Paclobutrazol can significantly inhibit the synthesis of gibberellin. Foliar spraying of gibberellin can restore the effects of paclobutrazol on shoot growth of apple, peach and citrus seedlings. Test results prove that the main mechanism by which paclobutrazol affects the vegetative growth of fruit trees is inhibiting the synthesis of endogenous gibberellin.

3. In fruit trees treated with paclobutrazol, extension growth is inhibited, but lateral branches and short fruit branches increase greatly. This indicates that paclobutrazol not only inhibits the synthesis of endogenous gibberellin, but may also reduce the synthesis of indoleacetic acid IAA.
4. Spraying paclobutrazol can increase leaf greenness, leaf chlorophyll content and soluble protein content in apple, peach, hawthorn and others. Paclobutrazol increased the carbohydrate content of various organs of apple seedlings. This indicates that carbohydrate transport to the root system increased. It can thus be seen that paclobutrazol significantly increases the photosynthetic efficiency of fruit trees and promotes the export of carbohydrates from leaves. The increase in photosynthetic intensity of fruit trees is manifested in two aspects: A. Paclobutrazol increases chlorophyll content and increases photosynthetic efficiency. B. Paclobutrazol reduces vegetative growth, making the canopy well ventilated and well lit, thereby indirectly increasing light intensity.

5. Paclobutrazol increased the concentrations of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper, boron and zinc in the leaves of apple seedlings. The effect of paclobutrazol on the plant's mineral nutrition level is related to its increase in ATPase activity in roots, and is also related to three aspects: its increase in the root/shoot ratio, its promotion of the growth of lateral roots and absorbing roots, and its change in transpiration intensity.
