Ministry of Agriculture Promotes Full Mechanization of Major Crop Production

In August this year, the Ministry of Agriculture issued the "Opinions on Carrying Out the Action to Promote Full Mechanization of Major Crop Production," deploying across the country an action to promote full mechanization of major crop production. The "Opinions" proposed striving to achieve a national comprehensive mechanization level of over 68% for crop cultivation and harvesting by 2020, among which the comprehensive mechanization level for cultivation and harvesting of the three major grain crops should all reach over 80%, and the levels of mechanized plant protection, mechanized straw handling and mechanized drying should be substantially raised. With the main production areas of grain, cotton, oil and sugar as key regions, about 500 demonstration counties should be built that take the lead in basically achieving full mechanization of production.

Comment: After more than 10 years of rapid development, China's agricultural mechanization has seen the comprehensive mechanization level of major crops exceed 60%. However, the current development of agricultural mechanization urgently needs to transform its mode and adjust its structure, and urgently needs full-process mechanization products with complete categories and high quality as support. It is against this background that the "Opinions" came into being. At this year's industry event, the China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition, China's backbone agricultural machinery enterprises turned one after another from focusing on a single link of agricultural mechanization in the past to pushing forward full-process mechanization, displaying full-process mechanization solutions for seven major crops, fully reflecting market demand and also pointing out the future development path of agricultural mechanization.
