China's total number of geographical indications of origin has reached more than 1,900

On June 15, the reporter learned from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine that as of the end of May this year, China's total number of geographical indications of origin had reached more than 1,900. Among the currently protected geographical indication products, there are also 15 foreign geographical indication products.

According to the introduction, China's geographical indication of origin system has undergone more than ten years of practice and exploration. Among these, in the area of foreign-related geographical indication of origin protection, the first round of China-EU geographical indications of origin “10+10” mutual recognition and mutual protection pilot work initiated by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine has been fully completed, and a new round of “10+10” mutual recognition and mutual protection pilot work is underway, creating a model of international bilateral cooperation in the special protection model for geographical indications of origin and generating a strong response internationally.
