Domestic japonica rice prices are expected to remain high
Currently, domestic rice processing enterprises basically purchase rice from grain depots and trading markets, and mainly policy-oriented rice. Since policy-oriented rice must follow the principle of price-matching sales, the transaction floor price is relatively stable. Meanwhile, the domestic rice market is in the off-season for market consumption, and many processing enterprises reduce rice market supply by suspending production for maintenance, in order to support rice prices in remaining relatively stable. Overall, in the short term there will be few changes in the domestic supply and demand environment, and japonica rice prices will remain stable.
Last week, in order to ensure farmers' income, Hubei, Jiangxi, Hunan and Anhui provinces successively launched the minimum purchase price execution plan for early indica rice. At present, the purchase price of grain depots carrying out the storage task is basically maintained at around 1.35 yuan/jin, and the purchase price of rice processing enterprises is basically concentrated at 1.28-1.35 yuan/jin. It is expected that in the short term the purchase price of early indica rice will still remain at the current level.

The market price spread between japonica and indica rice remained stable; the purchase price of japonica rice at grain depots in the Hulin area of Heilongjiang was 3200 yuan/tonne, and the purchase price of late indica rice in the Changsha area of Hunan was 2800 yuan/tonne, with a price spread of 400 yuan/tonne between the two places.
