Marker-assisted selection will become the main direction of future breeding
Conventional breeding methods have limitations such as genetic variation and genome hybridization; in principle, these limitations can be overcome through genetic engineering methods (such as recombinant DNA). Using these methods, genes with defined functions can be cloned and introduced into different species in a rapid and highly specialized manner.

Identifying wild orchids is very simple, just remember this marker and you can't go wrong
Recently, a fellow orchid grower left a message on the platform asking: What is the difference between orchid dragon roots and dragon eggs? How are they different from ordinary orchid seedlings? Only wild orchids have dragon roots and dragon eggs. Regarding the formation of dragon eggs, the Baijiahao account Rural Search Society has a video explanation, they...

China's pioneer in cotton marker breeding was initiated by Lu 05H9
Recently, the new red-flower-marked insect-resistant hybrid cotton variety Lu 05H9, bred by the Cotton Center of the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, passed the approval of the National Crop Variety Approval Committee. The red flower marker is like putting an anti-counterfeiting label on transgenic insect-resistant hybrid cotton. This variety pioneered red-flower trait marker breeding in cotton in China, and it is also the first of its kind worldwide. According to researcher Wang Liuming, the breeder of the variety, Lu 05H9 red-flower-marked insect-resistant cotton was developed over 12 years through distant hybridization, transferring the HB red-flower trait of wild G. bickii cotton onto cultivated

Taiwan tilapia breeding becomes more precise, molecular markers become a common language between industry and academia
Text by Zhuang Xiaoping, photography by Chen Yanyin. Smart agriculture is not just about having the facilities in place; managing aquaculture species is even more critical. With funding from the Taiwan Fisheries Research Institute's Smart Agriculture 4.0 subsidy, Shengdiao Aquaculture Technology transferred the gene identification technology from the Fisheries Research Institute in 2018 and set up a simple laboratory to test the molecular markers of broodstock, raising the breeding success rate to 100%, enabling effective management of the performance breeding of in-house conservation fish strains and commercial broodstock, and reducing rearing costs.

Optimizing the agricultural industry system: using molecular markers to improve the control of vegetable hybridization and variety identification
Using bioinformatics technology to explore molecular markers that differ among hybrid vegetable varieties, in order to establish molecular detection technology that can be automated for analysis, assist variety identification, improve control over the purity of first-generation hybrid seeds, and help make seedling sales more advantageous
