Zhenghuangqi is the name of a horticultural variety among Chinese orchids (Cymbidium). Its name borrows from the title of the Plain Yellow Banner among the Eight Banners of the Qing Dynasty, and it is generally named for its flower color, which is mainly yellow. Among orchid enthusiasts, it is often mentioned alongside famous varieties of categories such as Chunlan (Cymbidium goeringii), Huilan (Cymbidium faberi), Lianbanlan (Cymbidium tortisepalum) and Molan (Cymbidium sinense), and it is a relatively recognizable variety among the color-flowered types. Plants from different sources differ slightly in plant form and flower shape, so when buying it is best to judge by the actual bloom.

In terms of ornamental characteristics, Zhenghuangqi's flowers are bright in color, with a pure yellow tone, looking clean and crisp against the green leaves, offering both the appeal of a color flower and a delicate fragrance. The leaves are mostly slender and strap-shaped, with an elegant posture, so it also has good ornamental value even when not in bloom. When flowering, its overall bearing is refined and elegant, making it quite suitable for home orchid enthusiasts to grow and care for.

For care, Zhenghuangqi has habits similar to general Chinese orchids, preferring a warm, humid environment with good ventilation and scattered light. The growing medium should be loose, breathable and well-draining, and can be mixed from materials such as bark and Kanuma soil; water so that it dries and then gets wet, avoiding long-term water accumulation in the pot. In summer, pay attention to shading and cooling; in winter, keep it appropriately warm and give plenty of scattered light; during the peak growing seasons of spring and autumn, apply dilute fertilizer frequently. Repotting is mostly arranged after flowering or in spring.

In daily management, if scorched leaf tips appear, they are mostly related to dry air, overly concentrated fertilizer or somewhat alkaline water, so you can increase environmental humidity and adjust fertilizer and water. If the flower color is pale, it may be related to insufficient light or a small day-night temperature difference, and appropriately increasing scattered light helps with color development. Overall, as long as the environment is stable and water and fertilizer are moderate, Zhenghuangqi is not a difficult variety to grow.
