The price of this plant is artificially inflated, purely speculation.
"Someone once offered 12 million to buy this orchid, but the owner still could not bear to sell it." According to exhibition staff, the Cymbidium lianpan 'Suguan Hedin' is the treasure of the Dangshan Prefecture Orchid Garden in Dali, Yunnan, valued at 15 million yuan. This orchid won the Special Gold Award at this China Orchid Expo.
To catch a glimpse of the "sky-high-priced" orchid, crowds surged toward the display stand of the Cymbidium lianpan 'Suguan Hedin' at the exhibition site, and for a time the stand was packed with people. Worried that the crowding might cause a safety hazard, the organizers immediately added security guards to maintain order. The reporter saw that in front of the "sky-high-priced" orchid display stand, 10 security guards stood in a human wall completely surrounding the stand. Photographers could only place their cameras in the gaps between two guards.
It is understood that the Cymbidium lianpan 'Suguan Hedin' has a graceful posture and is extremely rare in number, combining the characteristics of three major premium orchid types: Cymbidium lianpan, plain-heart, and leaf-type orchid. On the market, a single 'Suguan Hedin' plant sells for as much as 4 million.
It is reported that another orchid that won the Special Gold Award at this orchid "two conferences" along with the Cymbidium lianpan 'Suguan Hedin' was named 'Longpao', a micro neutrino jasper orchid submitted by Haruhiko Nagata of the organizing committee of the Nagoya International Orchid Conference in Japan.
