Tainong No. 1 (King Guava)

Oval-shaped, large fruit, broad neck, light yellow-green skin, uneven surface, medium-thick flesh, white to creamy yellow flesh color, medium coarseness and extremely crisp texture, high sugar content, high acidity, slight aroma, many seeds, sugar content about 9.5-11Brix, average fruit weight about 380-440 grams.

Taiwan Red Flesh Guava Varieties
Taiwan already had red flesh native guavas in the 1940s, but most were garden or local varieties, and because the varieties were poor, they were not produced in large quantities. In recent years, as the number of people who value health has increased, and with variety improvement and technical advances, red flesh guava juice and other processed products are already on the market, along with a small number of varieties offered for fresh eating. At present, Yilan Red Flesh Guava and Yanchao Rainbow Guava have the larger cultivation areas.

Yilan Red Flesh Guava
Introduction: In 1990, the Zhenshan area of Yuanshan Township in Yilan established a red flesh guava production and marketing group, and it is currently the largest producing area of red heart guava in the country. Yilan Red Flesh Guava is a variety that softens easily when ripe, but because the area has unique water quality and climate, it does not develop a mushy texture and is suitable for fresh eating.
Fruit characteristics: Fruit weight about 120-204g, flesh thickness 1.3 cm, sugar content about 8-11°Brix.
Production area and season: September-December.

Yanchao Rainbow Guava
Introduction: It originated from a farmer surnamed Liu in Changhua who selected it from seedlings of Yilan red heart guava. It was later introduced to Yanchao for propagation and named Rainbow Guava. At present, the cultivation areas include Yanchao, Gangshan, Qishan, Dashe, Changhua, and Taitung.
Fruit characteristics: This variety is "non-climacteric", stores relatively well, and looks similar to Pearl Guava. The skin is green, the flesh is red, and there is a layer of white flesh between the skin and the red flesh, making it look like a watermelon, so it is also called "watermelon guava". Fruit weight is about 300-600g, flesh about 2-2.5 cm, sugar content about 8-12°Brix, with an aroma similar to passion fruit.

guava varieties, have you tasted them all? Would you like to try them all? The taste and flavor of these fourguava varieties are all quite good!
