Causes of Yellow Spots on Clivia Leaves and How to Prevent and Treat Them
Yellowing of Clivia leaves generally occurs in several situations. If new roots grow from the leaf axils of the bottom leaves and cause the leaves to turn yellow, this is normal metabolism. In another situation, no new roots grow from the leaf axils but the leaves turn yellow; this is mostly due to raw soil, poor air permeability, too much fertilizer, or poor control of watering dryness and moisture that causes root rot. All of these can make Clivia leaves turn yellow. If watering does not penetrate thoroughly and the root tips lack water, the leaf tips will turn yellow and dry out. When this happens, you must water thoroughly. In summer, every 7-10 days you can set the flower pot bottom in a small basin of water, which ensures thorough watering; this is called the soaking method.
