How to water orchids correctly during the sprouting period

Orchids are a common flowering plant that many gardening friends like to grow. When grown in pots, they are not only suitable for viewing, but also can decorate and beautify a space, making them very practical. Their routine care and management are also relatively simple; you only need to water them in time to keep them growing well.
But orchids in the sprouting period are rather fragile, and improper watering can easily cause problems for the plant. If you usually water thoroughly, then during the sprouting period it is not advisable to use this method. So, what should you do?
Orchids in the sprouting period require timely watering. If they are not watered for a long time and are left to suffer drought, budding and shoot growth may both be slow, and the new shoots may even wither. But improper watering can also cause rotten shoots and rotten roots.
In order to water orchids in the sprouting period scientifically, we mainly adopt the following methods, which can both prevent the plant from developing rotten shoots and avoid rotten roots. Let's take a look below.
Generally, move the potted orchid in the sprouting period into the bathroom and use a showerhead to water along the rim of the orchid pot. You also need to spray water evenly around the rim in a circle, so as to avoid water flowing directly into the pot and causing waterlogging, and also avoid splashing water on the new shoots and causing rotten shoots.
Although this watering method is relatively scientific, there is also a problem, namely water quality. Fresh tap water is usually not suitable for watering flowers, since it still contains quite a few disinfecting and sterilizing substances, and these substances are unfavorable for orchid growth.
It is suggested that everyone build a water tank on a rooftop balcony, usually collect rainwater, then connect a hose and spray nozzle, and water the orchids according to the above method; water can also be pumped from a river to irrigate the orchids.
But this method is generally more suitable for growers with a large number of potted orchids. For home users, rainwater or river water can be put in a spray bottle and used to water evenly in circles along the rim of the flower pot.
However, no matter what water source is used to water potted orchids in the sprouting period, everyone is required not to splash the water stream directly onto the new shoots, otherwise it easily causes rotten shoots. Also do not use a large stream to directly flood the flower pot forcefully, because after causing waterlogging in the pot it will also cause rotten roots.
