What are the ways to grow Aglaia odorata (mock lime)?
Aglaia odorata is a beloved flowering plant. It mainly prefers to grow in the south, because the air humidity there is relatively high and the environment is warm and humid. So what are the ways to grow Aglaia odorata?
1. The soil must be loose and airy.
Newly bought Aglaia odorata is generally kept in its original soil, and this kind of soil is very suitable for growing in a flowerpot. If you take it home, improper watering can easily cause the soil to compact. So when the temperature is suitable, a newly bought Aglaia odorata can have its roots washed and be repotted into loose, airy soil, which saves you from later worries.
After repotting, use loose, airy, slightly acidic soil. You can use leaf mold mixed with granular soil, then mix in a layer of pine needle soil.
2. Ventilation must be good.
Aglaia odorata likes a well-ventilated, warm and humid environment. At home you can put it on a south-facing balcony, and open the windows often to let air through. If ventilation is poor, watering can easily lead to waterlogging, and its leaves will easily drop off with a patter.
3. Light must be good.
If you want Aglaia odorata to grow continuously and keep blooming, you must often give it plenty of light. Apart from shading it during the scorching midday sun in summer, it needs full sun at all other times. If conditions allow, you can put it outdoors to grow in the open; the more sun it gets, the more it blooms.
4. Fertilizing.
Aglaia odorata grows continuously and blooms continuously. In the growing season, new shoots come out with a cluster of flower buds, so it consumes a lot of nutrients and must be top-dressed in time. Give it a multi-element fertilizer every month, and use a phosphorus-potassium fertilizer once a month, so that nutrition will not be lacking. You cannot supplement only phosphorus-potassium fertilizer to promote blooming, as this will affect the plant's growth. Improper care on our part can also cause it to lack some medium and trace element fertilizers. So only by supplementing fertilizer in time can it grow more vigorously.
