How Should Aglaia odorata Be Planted? Aglaia odorata Care Techniques

As an ornamental plant, Aglaia odorata is generally grown in courtyards or as indoor potted plants. So how should Aglaia odorata be planted? And what care techniques does Aglaia odorata require? Below, the editor will introduce them to you.

Aglaia odorata Planting Techniques

Aglaia odorata can be placed in sunlight in all four seasons, with no need for shading. If fertilizer and water are sufficient, it grows vigorously, blooms profusely, and has a strong fragrance. Repot and change the soil once every 2-3 years, generally in late April to early May, following the same procedure as for other flowers. What fellow flower growers should note is that it must be planted with the soil ball intact; after planting, water thoroughly, place it indoors in a ventilated spot, and move it outdoors after the last frost.

After the plant recovers, water normally, following the principle of "water when dry, stop when wet" - in summer and autumn generally once a day; fertilize once every 10-15 days at a concentration of 20%; during the high-temperature period of July-August, which is also the peak blooming period, fertilize once every half month until stopping at the end of September, and water once every 3-4 days.

In late autumn (end of October), move it indoors to a sunny spot, pay attention to ventilation, the room temperature should be 10-12°C, and at night it must not go below 5°C, so as not to let the terminal buds sprout. Moving it outdoors in spring should preferably be in mid-to-late April, and in May apply a liquid fertilizer mainly of phosphorus fertilizer.

Aglaia odorata Care Techniques

(1) Keep Warm

When brought indoors in late autumn, it should be kept between 6-12°C; if below 5°C, measures must be taken to keep it warm. At home, you can put the Aglaia odorata into a foam plastic container and cover it with plastic film, piercing a few small holes for ventilation; you can also place a small light bulb inside to raise the temperature - either works.

Friends who love growing Aglaia odorata, don't miss these techniques.

(2) Avoid Cold Wind

Except in South China, in winter, even if the sun is good, it cannot be taken outside to bask, and you must also prevent cold wind blowing in through gaps from reaching the Aglaia odorata.

(3) Do Not Move It Outdoors Too Early

Some flower growers who keep Aglaia odorata often care for it meticulously in winter, and as soon as spring comes they take it out to bask in the sun, and as a result the Aglaia odorata dies from "catching a cold." In the Nanjing area, it is safer to move it outdoors in mid-to-late April; in the north it should be even later, preferably in early May. Before moving it outdoors, there should be a transition period; at the end of early April, on a clear day, it can be moved outdoors around noon to bask for 2-3 hours; after 4-5 consecutive days, once it has basically adapted to the external environment, then move it outdoors.
