Why use paper and paper clips on a clivia

Because when the plant is exposed to sunlight, the leaf surfaces receive uneven light, so the clivia will grow crooked and uneven. See which side the leaves bulge toward, then use paper clips to fix paper over and cover that side. After a period of time, the crooked leaves can gradually be corrected, and at that point you can remove the paper clips and cardboard.
