The Harm and Control Methods of Orchid Soft Rot

Orchids are one of the more common flowers on the market, and quite a few people grow them. Today I will share with you the harm and control of orchid soft rot.
The Harm and Control of Orchid Soft Rot:
Generally speaking, if an orchid grows very robustly with a very well-developed root system, its disease resistance is relatively strong. If the orchid does not grow well and, on top of that, is not cared for properly, then it becomes very prone to disease. In the current season, if ventilation is poor, orchids are very likely to contract soft rot.
Soft rot is severely harmful and spreads extremely fast. It has two forms of manifestation. One starts from the new shoots, that is, before the buds have fully grown, the roots rot and the rot keeps spreading upward; when the disease is severe, it can cause the entire plant to wither and die. The other starts from the old shoots. If the old shoots show abnormal collapse of the pseudobulbs and there are small brownish-yellow or black spots on the leaves, you need to pay attention.
If the disease is confirmed, the first step is to isolate the plant and promptly move it to a place with good ventilation and low humidity, then tip the entire pot of plants out and separate the diseased plants, breaking off the plantlets connected to them as well, and the remaining plantlets must be treated. When spraying, both the front and back of the leaves must be sprayed, and the potting medium must also be watered until it is thoroughly soaked. All contaminated potting medium must be discarded, and the flower pot must be treated; it can be soaked in agricultural streptomycin diluted 500-1000 times.
Because the disease spreads very quickly, prevention must be strengthened. Both cultivation control and chemical control are important. In terms of cultivation control, shading, cooling, and good ventilation can create ecological conditions favorable to the growth and development of orchids and unfavorable to the reproduction and infection of the disease. In terms of chemical control, simply spray agricultural streptomycin once every 10-15 days during normal times.
