What causes the goldfish plant to drop its flowers

The goldfish plant has a well-developed root system and grows quickly, so it easily fills its pot to bursting. It is also an evergreen flowering plant that keeps growing as long as its environment is suitable, though its growth rate varies from season to season. But when we grow flowering plants in pots, we all want them to grow quickly and vigorously, and to flower just as abundantly.
The goldfish plant is mainly grown for its flowers, and it is usually kept as a potted plant for greater ornamental appeal. Care and management during the flowering period are very important; if it is not looked after well, it tends to drop its flowers quite easily. And when a flowering plant drops its flowers, its ornamental value is bound to decline.
In fact, under normal conditions the goldfish plant does not drop its flowers during the flowering period. If its flowers do start falling, especially in large numbers, something must have gone wrong with its growth. The main causes come down to these few aspects:
1. Too much watering
The goldfish plant likes a moist growing environment, but it is also intolerant of waterlogging. Watering too much at ordinary times easily causes root rot; if you water too much during the flowering period, it quite easily causes flower drop. Generally, during the bud-forming stage, when buds are developing, the flowers and leaves evaporate a bit more water, so watering during this time should be timely and moderate. But once the buds open, you need to control water promptly, otherwise the flowers will easily drop.
2. Root rot
The goldfish plant's flowering period is generally concentrated in winter, and temperatures during this time are often rather low. If you water and fertilize too much, root rot is quite easily caused. When root rot occurs, the plant cannot properly supply water and nutrients to the buds, and since the buds need plenty of water and nutrients while they are opening, this leads to flower drop, leaf drop and many other problems.
3. Unsuitable environment
The goldfish plant likes a cool, shady and well-ventilated growing environment and has certain requirements for environmental humidity. But during the flowering period, if the growing environment becomes unsuitable, whether it is poor light, poor ventilation, low temperature or low humidity, these are all causes of flower drop. Especially when all these factors stack up together, flower drop while the goldfish plant is blooming is unavoidable.
4. Pests and diseases
Although the goldfish plant's flowering period is concentrated in winter, because regional environments differ, in some places it may bloom a little later, at the latest in March to May of spring. And this season is exactly when pests and diseases are relatively active. If the growing environment is fairly warm but has high humidity, poor light and poor ventilation, then it provides a breeding ground for pests and diseases, and the plant is very easily attacked by them, which in turn causes flower drop.
