How to make the paws of the bear's paw plant turn red, and how to grow the red-pawed succulent

I. How to make the paws of the bear's paw plant turn red

If you want the paws of the bear's paw plant (Cotyledon tomentosa) to turn red, the method is actually very simple. The bear's paw plant loves sunshine, and the more sun it gets, the redder its paws become, so you only need to move it into the sun to solve this problem. But there is one thing to note: if the summer temperature is above 28°C, it can be left in the sun in the morning, but the harsh sun at noon and in the afternoon should be properly shaded, so that the bear's paw plant can go dormant smoothly and get through the summer safely.

II. How to grow the bear's paw plant with red paws

1. Pot and soil: Beginners are advised to grow the bear's paw plant in a plastic pot, using a soil mix of one part peat soil and four parts granular soil.

2. Watering: In spring, autumn and winter, water usually once a week; on rainy days and in weather with high air humidity, extend this to once every one and a half to two weeks; in summer, when the bear's paw plant is dormant, water once every three to four weeks, just pouring a little along the edge of the pot.

3. Fertilizing: Small bear's paw plant seedlings do not need fertilizing. For larger plants and old specimens, you can sprinkle 3-5 granules of slow-release fertilizer on the soil surface when repotting, to provide nutrients for the bear's paw plant.

4. Ventilation: When growing the bear's paw plant at home, you must pay attention to ventilation, especially in the stuffy and hot environment of summer, which can easily cause the bear's paw plant to drop its leaves. It must be kept in a cool, well-ventilated place so that the bear's paw plant can safely get through the hard summer.

5. Light: Apart from summer, you must let the bear's paw plant get plenty of sun, to avoid its red paws fading due to lack of light.
