How long can a snake plant live without soil

A snake plant can live for more than a week without soil. This plant is extremely drought-tolerant, and a short time out of the soil will not cause it to die quickly. A snake plant placed in a cool, shaded spot can even last about 15 days. As long as the environment is kept relatively dry and cool, a snake plant can survive out of soil for a very long time.

1. More than a week

A snake plant can still survive for more than a week after leaving the soil, and with proper care it can even live for more than 15 days. After a snake plant leaves the soil, the nutrients and water stored in its body are enough to support its survival for a long period, until we plant it back into soil and resume normal care.

2. Storage environment

When storing a bare-root snake plant, we must be careful not to let it come into contact with water or be placed in an overly humid place. A snake plant can be stored for a long time in a relatively dry, cool spot, but if there is water or the environment is too humid, the snake plant will quickly rot and die, so the environment must be kept dry.

3. Transplanting steps

After preparing the soil and pot, you should still plant the snake plant into normal soil as soon as possible. Take out the snake plant that has been stored for some time, cut off the dried, withered root tips or leaf tips, then plant it into the soil and water it lightly, just enough to make the soil slightly moist.

4. Care work

During the first 2-3 days after the snake plant is newly planted in the pot, do not water it too much; just keep the soil slightly moist. Watering too much can easily make the plant intolerant and cause it to wither and die. When watering a snake plant, proceed gradually and slowly increase the amount of water so the plant can adapt to the process; after 15 days, you can water it normally.
