How to grow orchids? Detailed planting steps for you

1. Choosing a pot and soil
When planting orchids, you can choose a purple clay pot or a mud tile pot, which have good breathability and do not easily accumulate water, benefiting plant growth. For the soil, you can use coarse sand, charcoal, small stones or coal cinders, and it must ensure breathability, moisture retention and ventilation.
2. Cleaning the orchid plant
Before planting, first clean the roots of the plant and use sterilized tools to cut off diseased and rotten roots. Then also clean up the withered and decayed leaf sheaths, being careful not to damage the leaf buds and growth points. In addition, leaves with disease spots should also be pruned away to avoid infecting the plant later.
3. Potting and planting
After cleaning the plant thoroughly, it can be potted and planted. Before potting, first use growing medium to line the pot to achieve breathability and drainage, then place the young orchid into the pot and let the root system spread out completely, after which carefully add the prepared growing medium. When adding it, gently shake the pot frequently so that the roots and growing medium fully contact each other. The growing medium does not need to be added too deep; the pseudobulbs should be exposed, and covering them about halfway is enough, which facilitates the sprouting of orchid shoots.
4. Top dressing and care
After planting, if the weather is clear and the root system is healthy, you can immediately water once to settle the roots. If the root system is damaged, you should wait two days before watering, and be careful not to let water accumulate. After the plant is established, you can spread ceramsite or small stones on the surface of the pot, which not only retains moisture and warmth but also improves the ornamental value.
