How to Fertilize Roses, Rose Fertilization Methods

Plant growth cannot be separated from the supply of fertilizer, which is the prerequisite for ensuring healthy plant growth. Many of us like to grow roses at home and routinely fertilize them. So how do you fertilize roses? Through reasonable fertilization, roses can grow more robustly; if fertilization is done improperly, it can cause yellowing leaves and root rot in roses. Below is a guide to rose fertilization methods.

I. Rose Fertilization Methods

1. If the roses have just been planted, at this time we should apply some organic fertilizer, which can be mixed with the soil before application. Roses do not have high requirements for fertilizer; generally, organic fertilizer and liquid fertilizer are most suitable.

2. Roses grow very quickly, and the flowers they produce will also increase, so at this time they need more and more nutrients. During the growing period, the frequency and amount of fertilization should be increased to adapt to their growth pattern. When flowering, there must be sufficient fertilizer so that the branches and leaves are lush and the flowers bloom brilliantly.

3. In March, apply nitrogen-based liquid fertilizer 1 to 2 times to promote the growth of branches and leaves; in April and May, apply phosphorus- and potassium-based fertilizer 2 to 3 times to promote more flower bud formation and more blooming; after flowering, apply one rejuvenation fertilizer, after which no further fertilization is needed.

4. In winter, apply soil and fertilizer to the roses once, so that the young branches and flower buds have sufficient nutrition. When the flower-producing season arrives, the frequency of fertilization can be changed to 1-2 times a week to ensure flower yield, and the mother branches for cutting flowers should be cultivated, while flower buds on weak branches should be cut off.

II. Precautions for Fertilizing Roses

1. Before planting roses, pay attention to digging trenches and applying base fertilizer, and in spring water frequently. When expected, pay attention to drainage and waterlogging prevention; for fertilization, maintain two to three times to ensure that flowerless branches can bloom the following year.

2. As roses grow, they bloom more, and their fertilizer also gradually increases. When we fertilize roses, the amount and frequency can be adjusted according to the growth period and flowering period. When fertilizing, the concentration must not be too high; keep it appropriately low and the frequency higher.

3. After applying fertilizer, water promptly. Proper pruning should also be carried out; through proper pruning, nutrients need not be excessively lost. In addition, those with weaker growth, severe pests and diseases, or overly dense branches and leaves should all be pruned.

Conclusion: The above are the rose fertilization methods. Fertilization is an important part of plant care; through reasonable and effective fertilization, roses can grow lush and flourish, becoming healthier and more robust.
