How to give first aid to pigs with heatstroke in summer? These six treatment methods are worth saving
Six first aid methods for treating heatstroke in pigs in summer, worth saving!
01. Bloodletting therapy
After a pig suffers acute heatstroke, the heatstroke pig should be quickly moved to a ventilated and cool place. The ear tip or tail tip of the heatstroke pig can be clipped to let 100-200 milliliters of blood, and at the same time each sick pig should be given 5-10 milliliters of Shidishui orally mixed with an appropriate amount of clean water, and intravenously injected with 200-500 milliliters of compound sodium chloride injection.
02. Cold water therapy
If the body temperature of the heatstroke pig is too high, physical cooling should be the main method. A cold wet towel can be placed on the head or the left chest heart area of the heatstroke pig, or cool water or tap water can be poured over the whole body, head and chest of the heatstroke pig, or cool water or tap water can be given to the heatstroke pig by rectal perfusion for cooling, until the body temperature of the sick pig drops to 38.5°C-39°C.

03. Stimulation therapy
For sick pigs in a coma after heatstroke, an appropriate amount of ginger juice, garlic juice or ammonia water can be placed in front of the sick pig's nose and allowed to be inhaled freely, so as to stimulate the pig's nasal cavity, thereby causing the pig to sneeze and helping it regain consciousness. At the same time, the heatstroke pig should also be given a subcutaneous injection of 5-10 milliliters of caffeine sodium benzoate injection or 2-4 milliliters of nikethamide injection.
04. Acupuncture therapy
After a pig suffers heatstroke, the main acupoints of the pig, including Renzhong, Tianmen, Xueyin, Ergen, Weijian and Weimu, can be selected, and Yongquan, Dishui, Bishui, Biliang and Bazi can also be selected for acupuncture therapy.
05. Traditional Chinese medicine therapy
After a pig suffers heatstroke, 100 grams each of Houttuynia cordata, wild chrysanthemum and Lophatherum gracile, and 25 grams of orange peel can be decocted in water and given orally to the heatstroke pig; or 100 grams each of Liuyueshuang and Plantago asiatica, and 25 grams each of Xianghuo and Agastache rugosa can be decocted in water and given orally to the heatstroke pig; or 50-100 grams of fresh Iris root can be washed, decocted in water, strained to remove the residue, and given orally to the sick pig in one dose; or 100 grams of mung bean powder, 50 milliliters of vinegar and 1 pig gall bladder can be mixed evenly with well water and given orally to the sick pig in one dose.
06. Western medicine therapy
For sick pigs with severe heatstroke, each sick pig can be given a subcutaneous or intramuscular injection of 0.5-2 grams of caffeine sodium benzoate, together with oral administration of 10-20 milliliters of Shidishui, peppermint water or camphor water. For sick pigs in an overly excited state, 1-3 milligrams of chlorpromazine hydrochloride can be injected intramuscularly per kilogram of body weight of the sick pig. When the sick pig is severely dehydrated, intravenous injection of normal saline or intravenous injection of 200-500 milliliters of 5% glucose normal saline can be given.
