Is jasmine easy to grow in winter?

Jasmine is a common flowering plant that is deeply loved by the public. Although its flowers are fairly ordinary when they bloom, with elegant, pure white petals, its flowering period is relatively long, and the plant also gives off a pleasant, delicate fragrance. If you grow it as a potted plant at home, you can enjoy its beauty while filling the whole room with fragrance. But for many flowering plants, winter is a rather hard time to get through.

Many beginner growers worry during the process of keeping jasmine whether it can safely and smoothly overwinter, and whether they can grow it well in winter. In fact, as long as we can master some care methods and techniques, you will find that not only does it overwinter very easily in winter, it is also very easy to grow well, and the following year it will both grow vigorously and bloom in a spectacular burst.

Generally, before the onset of winter, it is recommended that you give the potted jasmine a pruning. This mainly means cutting off some overly dense branches, leggy branches, diseased and weak branches, and other undesirable types of branches. This can reduce the burden on the plant's root system, since after pruning the plant's consumption of nutrients and water will be much lower, and it can also improve the ventilation and light penetration of the pot, which in turn helps the plant overwinter.

At the same time, when winter arrives, do not rush to move it indoors. When the weather is not especially cold, letting it adapt to the cool outdoor environment is quite beneficial for it to overwinter safely and smoothly. This is because letting it go through the process from warm to cold as a form of training will further boost its cold tolerance and cold resistance, since it is, after all, a flowering plant that is not cold-hardy.

Under normal circumstances, when the outdoor temperature drops to around 5°C, we then move it indoors. Then place it in a closed balcony with relatively ample light and fairly smooth air circulation, or somewhere near a windowsill, and pay attention to controlling water and fertilizer as usual. Never place the pot in an environment lacking light, because jasmine is quite fond of light, and the more light it receives, the better its growth will naturally be.

Generally, as long as everyone follows the above methods to carry out care and management for potted jasmine, you will find that this plant is very easy to grow even in winter. After the plant successfully overwinters, when the temperature warms up the following spring, promptly move it to an outdoor environment with ample light and better ventilation for care, and it will resume rapid growth, and by summer it will bloom in a spectacular burst.
