What to Do If You Overwater a Dragon Tree? Detailed Remedial Methods

1. Stop Watering
The dragon tree is a shrub-like succulent plant, so it cannot tolerate waterlogged conditions. Once overwatering occurs, you need to pause watering immediately and stop adding more water, otherwise the situation will only get worse. After that, water according to the plant's growth needs and do not supply excess water. During the growing season, water about once a week; in winter, the demand drops significantly, so once a month is enough.
2. Ventilation and Evaporation
After discovering overwatering, place it in a well-ventilated spot to help the water inside evaporate as quickly as possible, which also gives the roots some room to breathe. If you do not ventilate in time and it stays in a hot, stuffy environment, the dragon tree's growth will suffer, leading not only to root rot but also to pest and disease infections.
3. Loosen the Soil Promptly
Loosen the overwatered soil to help the water drain out as quickly as possible. It must not remain and accumulate in the pot, otherwise it will cause great harm to the roots.
4. Replace with Fresh Soil
If there is really too much water retained, you can directly replace it with fresh soil, prepare a new mix and replant it for care. The flower pot should be placed in the sun to dry.
