What causes geranium leaves to grow smaller and smaller

Geranium is a sun-loving plant, and if it does not get enough light, its leaves will grow smaller and smaller. It grows best in loose, airy, well-draining and fertile sandy soil, and if the soil is unsuitable its leaves will also grow smaller and smaller. Insufficient nutrients and overwatering can also cause geranium leaves to grow smaller and smaller.
Reasons geranium leaves grow smaller and smaller
1. Insufficient light
Geranium is a sun-loving plant, and the growth of its leaves requires sufficient light. If the light is insufficient, it cannot carry out photosynthesis, and so its leaves will grow smaller and smaller. At this time we therefore need to supplement light for it, but note that in summer it must not be exposed to strong direct sunlight.
2. Unsuitable soil
Geranium has certain requirements for soil, and it grows best in loose, airy, well-draining and fertile sandy soil. If the soil is unsuitable or the old soil is not replaced with new soil for a long time, its roots cannot absorb nutrients and water, and the plant's leaves are then prone to growing smaller and smaller.
3. Insufficient nutrients
Geranium leaves growing smaller and smaller may also be caused by insufficient nutrients. During its growth period it needs topdressing, especially when it is growing leaves, when an appropriate amount of nitrogen fertilizer can be applied, as this is beneficial to its leaf growth. But note that it is not tolerant of heavy fertilizer, so fertilization should follow the principle of applying thin fertilizer frequently.
4. Overwatering
Geranium likes to grow in a slightly dry environment, and it is a plant that is not tolerant of waterlogging. If it is overwatered, its roots are prone to rotting, so it will grow poorly and its leaves will also grow smaller and smaller. Therefore, when caring for geranium, it needs to be watered reasonably.
