Planting methods and techniques for baby's breath

As one of the world's top ten cut flowers, baby's breath (Gypsophila) has white flowers with a slight fragrance and high ornamental value, making it a very common material for flower arranging. The flower language of baby's breath is being willing to play a supporting role, only wishing to be by your side; baby's breath represents a restrained, unshowy yet persistent love. If someone gives you a bouquet of baby's breath, it means they truly like you.

1. Soil

Baby's breath has relatively high soil requirements. It prefers loose soil with good air permeability, and the soil is best a slightly alkaline sandy loam. We can use leaf mold, sandy soil, nutrient soil, etc. to prepare a loose, breathable, and nutrient-rich potting mix.

2. Light

Baby's breath loves light very much, so during normal care it needs to be placed in a spot with sufficient light. The growing environment must have adequate light and good ventilation, so that baby's breath can grow better and produce more flowers.

3. Water and fertilizer management

Watering baby's breath should follow the principle of watering when dry and stopping when wet; do not water too much. Baby's breath grows quickly and has a long flowering period, so its nutrient needs are relatively high. Pay attention to topdressing during normal care; you can apply a nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer about once every half month, as this provides more comprehensive nutrients and is more conducive to the growth of baby's breath.

4. Pruning

Baby's breath only needs enough sunlight and generally grows quite well, so we need to prune the branches. After pruning, it will grow new branches, and its growth will also be more vigorous, producing more flowers.

Baby's breath comes in many colors and is very beautiful. It is generally planted in groups, though it can also be propagated by cuttings. The slowest method of propagation is growing from seeds, so generally try not to use seeds for propagation.
