How to grow a pineapple top in water

1. Preparing the pineapple top

Prepare a clean kitchen knife, use it to cut off the pineapple top, making sure the cut is level, then peel off the lowest leaves of the pineapple top until the white part is exposed, then place the peeled pineapple top in a cool, ventilated place and let it dry for 2-3 days.

2. Water-culturing the pineapple top

Once the cut surface of the pineapple top has completely air-dried, prepare a watertight container, fill it with water, and rest the pineapple top on the rim of the container so that the bottom of the pineapple top just barely touches the water surface. In the early stage of water culture, change the clean water once a day to prevent the pineapple top from rotting and smelling.

3. Caring for the pineapple top

After about 2-3 weeks of water culture, the pineapple top will grow roots, which are the small dots in a ring on the outer side of the cut surface that you observed when cutting the pineapple top. These small dots are where the pineapple top grows roots. Once the pineapple top has rooted, change the clean water once whenever the water looks cloudy.

4. Adding nutrients during water culture

Because there are no nutrients in the water, gardeners who want to keep a pineapple top in water culture for the long term must add nutrient solution drops to the water to supplement nutrients for the pineapple top (apply after rooting).

5. Moving from water culture to soil culture

If you want the pineapple top to grow a pineapple, it is best to wait until the roots of the pineapple top reach 5cm, then transplant and plant it into soil. After planting, place the pot in a place with bright, indirect light and good ventilation, and after one week gradually increase the light to full sun. Normally give it a relatively high temperature, and when the soil turns pale and dry, water it thoroughly once. In 1-3 years the pineapple top will produce a big pineapple!
