How many species of orchids are there, and what are their characteristics?

I. How many species of orchids are there
There are many species of orchids, about more than two thousand. Different varieties differ in their growing environment, flower color, plant form and so on. In daily life, the more commonly seen ones include Cymbidium goeringii (spring orchid), Cymbidium faberi (Faber's cymbidium), Cymbidium ensifolium (sword-leaf cymbidium), Phalaenopsis (moth orchid), Cymbidium sinense (Chinese cymbidium), Chlorophytum comosum (spider plant), Cymbidium floribundum (pendulous-flowered orchid), Cymbidium aloifolium (aloewort-leaved orchid) and so on.
II. Introduction to a few varieties
1. Spring orchid (Cymbidium goeringii): This type of plant mostly grows in woodland spots where the sunlight is not very strong; places with slopes in the woods are more suitable for its growth. Its flower color is rather special, mostly green or pale yellowish-brown, with a faint fragrance; the petals are oval or oblong, and it usually blooms between January and March.
2. Moth orchid (Phalaenopsis): This type of plant mostly grows in tropical regions, so it likes high-temperature environments; temperatures that are too low are not good for the plant's growth. 15-20°C is the temperature most favorable for its growth; if the temperature is below 5°C, the plant may die. Its flowers are mostly white, the petal shape is close to a semicircle, the flower stalk is slender and green, and the flowering period is from April to June.
3. Spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum): This type of plant likes to live in a warm and humid environment, but the light must not be too strong; if you plant it, you should choose soil with good drainage and relatively abundant nutrients. Its flowering period is in May, the flowers are mostly white, the petals are irregular, and the flower stalk is relatively short; its leaves are slender, with a little yellow in the middle and green on both sides.
