Why Does Wax Begonia Drop Its Flower Buds?

Wax begonia (Begonia × semperflorens-cultorum) dropping its flower buds may be caused by unsuitable temperature, insufficient nutrients, and lack of light. Keep the temperature between 15-22°C; it must not go below 10°C or above 28°C. Apply appropriate fertilizer before the flowering period, as a lack of nutrients easily leads to bud drop. Also provide plenty of light to promote bud growth and help the plant bloom as soon as possible.
Causes of Wax Begonia Dropping Its Flower Buds
1. Unsuitable temperature
Wax begonia grows best at 15-22°C. If the temperature drops below 10°C or rises above 28°C, its growth will be affected, which leads to bud drop. Therefore, once wax begonia has produced flower buds, place the plant in a cool spot for care.
2. Insufficient nutrients
The growth of wax begonia flower buds requires enough nutrients to continue opening. If no fertilizer is applied for a long time, a lack of nutrients will cause bud drop. So give wax begonia sufficient nutrients; before the flowering period, apply a suitable supplementary dressing of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to promote blooming.
3. Lack of light
Sufficient light keeps wax begonia flower buds healthier. If wax begonia stays in a dark environment for a long time, it will also drop its flower buds. Before wax begonia blooms, provide enough light and place it in an environment with bright, indirect light for care.
