How to Grow Orchids? Master the Right Watering Methods and Care Essentials

I. Growing Methods
1. Soil: When planting, choose a slightly acidic soil with good aeration, good drainage and a certain amount of nutrients, such as leaf mold.
2. Watering: This type of plant does not like soil that is too wet, so there is no need to give too much water. In spring and autumn, watering once every ten days is enough; in summer, water once every 48 hours; in winter, the frequency of watering should be reduced even further, and watering about once every half a month is sufficient.
3. Fertilizing: The growth and sprouting of the plant cannot do without nutrients, so during the growing process you should choose the right time to apply some fertilizer. In summer and autumn, you can make some fertilizer yourself for the plant to use; in spring and winter, if the plant is growing well, no fertilizing is needed.
4. Temperature: The plant can only grow quickly when the temperature is suitable. This type of plant grows well in an environment with a temperature of 16-24°C; when the temperature is <5°C, the plant's growth becomes poor, so in winter be careful to control the temperature.
II. Watering Methods
1. The best time to water this type of plant is before nine in the morning; at this time the temperature is moderate, and the orchid will absorb the water relatively well.
2. Try not to water at night; if the water does not fully evaporate when watering at night, too much water will remain at the bottom of the pot, and over time this will cause root rot.
3. Avoid watering at noon when the weather is relatively hot and humid; the temperature is high at noon, and cold water will lower the soil temperature, thereby affecting the plant's growth.
4. When watering this type of plant, start from the edge of the pot; do not pour a large amount of water directly into the pot.
