What causes a camellia tree to drop its leaves

A camellia tree drops its leaves because of improper potting soil, light, fertilization or temperature. So loosen the soil regularly to keep the roots breathable and able to breathe. Place it in a sunny spot and keep it in sunlight for 7-9 hours a day. During the growing period, apply a decomposed liquid fertilizer once every half month, and keep the most suitable growing temperature at 20-30 degrees.
Reasons for a camellia tree dropping its leaves
1. Improper potting soil
A camellia tree drops its leaves because the potting soil is compacted and not loose, or because it has not been repotted for a long time. So during cultivation, loosen the soil regularly to keep the roots breathable and able to breathe. It can be repotted once every other year, and soil that is loose, breathable and well-draining is best.
2. Improper light
A camellia tree drops its leaves because of insufficient light or exposure to strong sun, since it grows in an environment with ample light. Therefore, during cultivation, place it in a sunny spot and keep it in sunlight for 7-9 hours a day to promote more luxuriant growth of branches and leaves. In summer, shade it properly and do not allow exposure to strong sun.
3. Improper fertilization
The growth of a camellia tree requires a certain amount of fertilizer. If it lacks fertilizer for a long time or suffers serious fertilizer damage, the phenomenon of leaf drop will occur. So fertilize reasonably, for example during the growing period apply a decomposed liquid fertilizer once every half month, and add one application of 0.02% potassium dihydrogen phosphate foliar fertilizer. Note that concentrated fertilizer or raw fertilizer must not be applied.
4. Improper temperature
Long-term temperatures that are too high or too low cause the camellia tree to drop its leaves, because it likes to grow in a relatively warm environment, and the most suitable growing temperature is between 20-30 degrees. So in the hot summer, move it promptly to a cool, ventilated place, and spray water on the leaves and around it to achieve the purpose of cooling. In winter, take care to do a good job of keeping it warm.
