How to care for a Ping'an tree (Cinnamomum kotoense) in winter so its branches and leaves grow lush

The Ping'an tree (Cinnamomum kotoense) is an evergreen plant very well suited to foliage display. Since it is an evergreen, it can generally keep growing all year round as long as its growing environment is suitable. But the Ping'an tree is a warmth-loving plant and is not cold-tolerant, so if you want it to grow lush in winter too, you often face quite a few difficulties.
If you want to grow the Ping'an tree lush in winter and keep the potted plant as ornamental as it is in other seasons, we need to create a suitable growing environment for it as much as possible and meet its biological needs. As long as it keeps growing normally in winter, it will usually show a good, healthy appearance and grow lush.
First, we need to provide it with a suitable humidity environment, because the Ping'an tree likes moisture and is not tolerant of drought, so the potting soil needs to be kept moist regularly. In winter the air is often quite dry, so to avoid problems with the leaves, you need to mist it regularly to maintain an air humidity in the care environment that is suitable for the plant's growth.
Watering also needs to be thorough; never give half-measures of water. In winter, generally watering once every half a month is enough. Of course, watering also needs to be decided according to the conditions in the pot: as soon as the potting soil dries out, you can water, and it must be watered thoroughly, trying to follow the principle of "water when dry, keep moist when wet, water thoroughly when completely dry." Never overwater, which can cause root rot. Also, do not water when the ambient temperature is too low in winter, otherwise it easily reduces the Ping'an tree's cold resistance and makes it more prone to freezing damage.
The Ping'an tree likes both warmth and sunlight, but at the same time it fears cold and tolerates shade. So if you want to grow the Ping'an tree lush in winter, it is best to keep the ambient temperature at around 20°C, so that it can maintain normal growth. During normal growth, besides watering in a timely but not excessive way, you also need to fertilize appropriately, but in winter follow the principle of light fertilizer applied sparingly.
The Ping'an tree grows slowly in winter, and even when growing normally it consumes relatively few nutrients. So fertilization must also be strictly controlled, and you can even skip fertilizing. Especially when the temperature is low and the plant enters dormancy, you must stop fertilizing. But if you want it to stay vigorous in winter, the temperature must be guaranteed, avoiding dormancy and keeping it growing normally.
At the same time, if you want it to grow lush, it still needs plenty of light. Although the Ping'an tree is not tolerant of strong direct sunlight, winter light intensity is very weak, so letting it get more sun and more fresh air on sunny days is very beneficial to its growth. On cloudy days, keep it indoors as much as possible and take good measures to keep it warm. Around midday on sunny days, let it get more sunlight.
It can be seen that if we want the Ping'an tree to grow lush in winter and still have relatively high ornamental value, we must not only provide it with a suitable growing environment, especially ensuring temperature and light, to prevent it from going dormant or freezing due to low temperatures and to keep it in a normal growth state at all times. At the same time, we also need to manage watering and fertilizing well so that it always maintains its growth vitality.
