Should you water a clivia thoroughly? A detailed guide to the correct watering method

I. Whether it needs to be watered thoroughly
Although clivia has fleshy roots and should not be watered too much, when you do water it, you should water it thoroughly. You must not give it half-measure watering; if you always water only halfway, the plant's roots will absorb water unevenly and can easily die as a result. To know whether you have watered thoroughly, it is very simple: when watering, watch the bottom of the flower pot. If water flows out, it means the water has penetrated through, and you can stop at that point.
II. Watering methods
1. How to judge when to water: Generally, water it after the soil has dried out completely. Before watering, you can insert a wooden stick into the soil and take it out after a while. If it is dry, water promptly; if it is still moist, do not water yet.
2. Watering method: Each time you need to water, just water it thoroughly. It is best to water along the edge of the pot, not directly at the roots, and even more importantly, do not pour all the water into the leaf rosette. In summer, the temperature rises quickly, the surface soil in the pot dries out fast, while the deeper soil is hard to dry out, so it is best to wait until the soil has dried throughout before watering.
