To transplant Guzmania seedlings, you need to prepare loose, breathable, well-drained soil rich in humus. Seedlings are generally transplanted in spring each year, and the seedlings need to have grown 7-8 leaves; simply cut the seedlings off from close to the mother plant, plant them at a depth of about 4-5cm, and afterwards keep them warm and moist.
How to transplant Guzmania seedlings
1. Prepare the soil
To transplant Guzmania seedlings, you first need to prepare suitable soil. It likes to grow in loose, breathable, well-drained soil rich in humus, so we can use a mix of leaf mold and a small amount of river sand. The soil needs to be sterilized before use, to prevent the plant from being infected by pathogens after planting.
2. Seedling preparation
Guzmania seedlings grow from the base of the mother plant. Seedlings are generally transplanted in spring each year, and the seedlings need to have grown 7-8 leaves so that their survival rate after transplanting will be higher. Simply cut the seedlings off from close to the mother plant, and note that the cut should be smooth, otherwise it will easily rot.
3. Transplanting and care
After disinfecting the base of the seedling, it can be planted into the soil, at a depth of about 4-5cm. After covering with soil, press the soil down gently, then water appropriately to keep the soil slightly moist, and move the plant to a semi-shaded environment for care, keeping the temperature at around 25°C, and it will soon grow.
