Why are the leaves of the dumb cane turning soft and wrinkled?

When the leaves of the dumb cane turn soft and wrinkled, it may be caused by temperatures that are too low, insufficient nutrients, too little watering, and improper lighting. If the temperature stays below 10°C for a long time, the nutrients in the soil are depleted without timely replenishment, the watering frequency is too low so there is not enough water, or the light is severely insufficient, wrinkled and soft leaves will result.
Reasons for wrinkled and soft leaves on the dumb cane
1. Temperature too low
The dumb cane is a plant suited to living in warm places, and its optimal growing environment temperature should remain stable at around 20-30°C for the plant to grow healthily and vigorously. If the ambient temperature stays below 15°C or even below 10°C for a long time, the plant will develop wrinkled and soft leaves due to cold damage and low temperatures.
2. Insufficient nutrients
The dumb cane is a plant that loves fertilizer. During its peak growing season, a thin fertilizer application is needed every 15 days to supply its huge nutrient consumption during the growth period. If the nutrients in the soil are depleted and we fail to fertilize in time, the abnormal phenomenon of soft and wrinkled leaves will appear.
3. Too little watering
During the growth and development period of the dumb cane, we need to keep its potting soil in a slightly moist state, and if the climate is too dry, we also need to spray some water mist to maintain humidity. If we water too little for a long time and keep the plant in a dry state, its leaves will become wrinkled due to lack of water.
4. Insufficient light
The dumb cane likes to grow in an environment with plenty of scattered light, and it needs light for photosynthesis. If we place the dumb cane in a dark place for a long time, its leaves will gradually become soft and wilted, which is stunted development caused by insufficient photosynthesis.
