How to dwarf a potted Canna? Practical methods shared

Potted Canna can be dwarfed using the stem-cutting method, the pinching method, or the paclobutrazol mud-pill burying method. Cut the plant's rhizome into small pieces, each piece must carry two or three buds. Plant them separately, and when the stems and leaves reach a height of 30 cm to 40 cm, cut off all the stems. After pruning, apply a dilute liquid fertilizer once every week.
Methods for dwarfing a potted Canna
1. Stem-cutting method
The stem-cutting method can be used to dwarf a potted Canna. Take the plant out of its pot, tidy up the roots, and cut the rhizome into small pieces, each piece must carry two or three buds. Prepare a pot one size larger, and plant the cut small rhizomes in it, planting just two small pieces per pot.
2. Pruning method
After planting, when the stems and leaves reach a height of 30 cm to 40 cm but have not yet bloomed, use sterilized scissors to cut off all the stems, leaving not a single branch or leaf. After pruning, apply a dilute liquid fertilizer once every week to promote sprouting. After it grows taller, it can be pruned again, thus achieving the goal of dwarfing.
3. Paclobutrazol mud-pill burying method
The paclobutrazol mud-pill burying method can be used to dwarf a potted Canna. When the stems and leaves reach a height of 20 cm to 30 cm, bury five paclobutrazol mud pills at the edge of the pot. Then water moderately, so that the medicinal ingredients in the mud pills slowly dissolve out and penetrate into the root system to promote dwarfing.
